Hi all, I´ve finally decided to upgrade my gaming build since my old one is from 2014 and can´t really keep up anymore. I want to basically start from almost scratch. any advice? Below the specifics. Thanks in advance!

Approximate Purchase Date: Probably after the new year as soon as I get a few days off to actually buy everything

Budget Range: 2-3K (not really a fixed budget, I can be flexible but I also don´t have to go overboard)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming /light work with Microsoft suite/ occasionally SPSS

Are you buying a monitor:
At the moment no but I would like to buy a new one in the future (4k)

Parts to Upgrade: Everything except Mouse, Keyboard and Monitor

Do you need to buy OS: No
Please note that if you're using an OEM license of Windows, you will need a new one when buying a new motherboard.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:
Amazon

Location: Germany

Parts Preferences: No Preference

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire:
No

Your Monitor Resolution: now I have 1280x1024 Monitor but in the future (next couple of months probably I would like to get something nice and fancy with 4K

Additional Comments: I usually play Open world games but would really like something that can rock Cyberpunk, Elden ring, Witcher, Diablo 4 etc...Absolutely no FPS

Thanks Guys!

One frame per second.

i712700.jpg
That is good 3-4% and not 1 frame. And that is 12th Gen. 13th Gen i7-13700K vs i7-13700 the difference is even greater. As the frequency difference is greater. Consider good 5-6%.

That is a decent bump in performance being left.

Ok now you guys are starting to confuse me a little lol. After looking at everything and seeing availability I think I-m going to go for the 4090 + i7 Core with probably Lian Li 216: would that be a feasible choice for the next 4 years of High resolution gaming? If so, can we get a consensus on a good motherboard and cooling (I have absolutely no idea where to start here, I just need something that works well and isn't too impossible to install.)

Thanks!

No we @Why_Me and me are both on same page for most of it and agree that RTX4090 gonna be the best for 4K performance. Yes we do have different opinion on what Boards and coolers to be chosen.

As I said i7-13700K + Non OC Motherboard will work perfectly fine. You don't need to spend on Z series board. I just don't want to leave that extra 5-6% of performance the "K" version has to offer over "Non-K" version for almost same price.

Motherboard to be honest that Gigabyte Board gonna be absolutely enough. I don't see one needing more than it unless having specific use case. But as I also love ASUS brand for their quality being the best you can pick the ASUS TUF H770 Motherboard listed by Why_Me above. I would not recommend MSI Motherboard though have had really bad experience with those specifically Intel ones. Avoid those.

When it comes to cooler. The Arctic Freezer 50 Cooler that is really a good one and is at discounted price. If you need better look at Be-quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 that is a really good cooler. Or Noctua D15. But at that price point would recommend AIO something like Corsair.

Yes price be going up a little. But for PC that is expected to last long that is a small price to pay.

Also if budget allows at end. Get the ASUS TUF RTX4090. That is really high quality GPU. Gigabyte one is not bad to begin with but ASUS TUF is better. Only after all other components. Because as I said Gigabyte GPU is very decent one.

I don't think anyone can promise you 4 years depending on what resolution and what settings you are looking for, it will very likely do 4K at highest settings for the next 2 years after that it will depend on how fast games develop, I suspect in the fourth year you would need to drop to High from Ultra in anything new as by then they will on to the 60 series cards and those will be what Ultra is aimed at. Obviously if there is another Crysis/Cyberpunk title which is massively resource hungry then you might have to go further either reducing texture or RT quality.

I mean that's fine, my goal is to go from an old PC that cant run genshin impact to something that will let me play elden ring or cyberpunk..

Ok, So lets try this again, this would be the new build. Will probably buy another storage Gb in the following months and still need to look at the 4090 to maybe get the ASUS TUF if its a good deal. Am I missing anything or making any kind of mistake?
