Hello, I'm from the UK and I'm looking into building a new gaming rig, I currently have at the moment...

AMD fx6300, asus motherboard, 8gb ddr3 1600mhz memory, GTX 970, 1TB HD, 120GB SSD

I am looking to keep both storage drives and the GPU, so I'm looking for help for which new cpu, motherboard and memory (i know prices are high at the moment) and a psu to get, I was thinking of going for the new Ryzen cpu's but i'm not sure which one would be best to be pair with my old gtx 970, I am thinking of upgrading to a new gpu sometime in 2018 but i'm waiting on nvidia's Volta line of gpu's first to see if that would be a worthy upgrade, I have been looking at gtx 1060 and 1070 but if Volta is not too off for release I might wait it out longer, I mainly just game on my computer, mostly multiplayer games ie. Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, Star Wars, Call Of Duty, PUBG, CounterStrike, Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks, Kind regards, Simon.

The 1600 is a great gaming chip and if you overclock it moderately, you can get very good performance out of it.

Alternately...

If you're planning on overclocking, my humble suggestion:

If you're not overclocking, I would suggest waiting for prices on the I7 7700 (non-k) to come down or save up a bit more.

Cheers!

Thanks for all the replies, I just been looking myself and came up with this build... all parts are from ebuyer accept the ram which is amazon..

Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-01 Red LED Mid-Tower Gaming Case £48.99
AMD Ryzen 3 1300X AM4 Retail Boxed Processor with Wraith Stealth Cooler £111.98
MSI AMD A320M Grenade Ryzen AM4 Micro ATX Motherboard £62.45
CX Series CX450 450 Watt 80 PLUS £41.27
HyperX FURY 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) 2133 MHz DDR4 CL14 DIMM Memory Kit (Skylake Compatible) £82.99

Total: £347

Just want to make sure you're aware of a few things there:

The Ryzen 3's don't have multi-threading, and we're at a point in gaming where it's important to be able to process more than 4 threads.

The A320 chipset doesn't support overclocking.

Ryzen performance is more heavily impacted by memory speed than Intel.

One more thing actually...make sure that the PSU is the *new* version of the CX (grey label) and not the old version (green label)

Thanks.
