Hello.. I'm not a complete noob.. Just need ideas for a good gaming rig around $500, no more than $550. I'm adamant about the Core i5 4670K processor. Would like a good nvidia video card, at least 8gb ram. Everything else, I'm ok with and will upgrade later. I'm waaaaaay in need of an upgrade, as my son is getting into gaming as well.. Don't laugh.. Right now I have an unlocked Phenom ii X4 B55, 4gb ddr2 ram, nvidia geforce 210.

Thanks!!!

But yes. I feel processor is most important.. I can even leave out the video card for now.. The onboard will be better than what I have now, standalone. That wasn't really an answer to my question, but thanks.

the problem with th i5 is that if you take 230 out of the 500 just for the cpu you are crushing every single other part of the computer

And I'll be honest with you, I have been building gameing rigs for a long time. Going with 2 hdd's in a raid and spending on the video card rather then the processor is the way to go. The processor is just not as important to gaming performance as the video card.
Your processor would play apart in zipping and graphic editing. Other then that you can stroke you epeen by posting high overclocking numbers...

Yes, a low end i5 would probably be fine for this. Even crammed a z77 board in there so you can upgrade to in i5-3570k if you really wanted to.
