New Graphics Card Not Working?

I built my pc with an apu and decided to upgrade and get a separate graphics card. I installed the graphics card drivers and when my monitor is plugged into the graphics card my screen is just black and says no signal. not really sure what the problem is...

Yes I installed the drivers off the website and have run it with the installation disk that came with the card

and the new card is a AMD R9 270x

Ok the PSU is way more than enough. Have you tried
1). Going into BIOS and setting graphics to PCI-E?
2). Make sure all power connections are secure on the graphics card. If your PSU is modular, make sure you're not spitting the power line to the GPU with anything else or using a converter (like 8 to 6 pin).

1). Going into BIOS and setting graphics to PCI-E?
2). Make sure all power connections are secure on the graphics card. If your PSU is modular, make sure you're not spitting the power line to the GPU with anything else or using a converter (like 8 to 6 pin).

I'm not sure how to go into bios. and the only connection issue that i was wondering about was that there are two 6pin sockets right next to each other on the board. plugging the power supply into the left one makes the fans and lights work on it but if i plug it into the right one everything seems to turn off. would i need to plug another cord for the second 6pin socket to the power supply?

What exactly is the PSU? 750w doesn't matter if it's a 10 amp 12v rail,

And like Shank said, check the plugs from the PSU to GPU. Unplug the 270x and pull it from the MB, then put it all back together again and see if that helps. May not be seated right.

I believe that the 270x uses a 6 pin and 6+2. If it does then switch them around. If it works then that should let you know if the PSU is the issue.

Also if you can try the GPU in another computer. Friends or something. Your goal is to try the different components and see if the PSU, MB, or GPU is the issue. Older MBs may need a BIOS update before they can run newer cards, especially AMD cards.

ouch! No you need two plugs plugged in at the same time! Your card isn't getting enough power at all, it can't even turn the core on with one plug. Plug two 6 pin connectors and try again.

The PSU is a corsiar hx750. brand new got it with the graphics card and it runs the apu fine so i don't think it would be a psu problem? i will try updating the motherboard too.

no no, listen, you haven't plugged your graphics card properly. It needs two 6 pin power connectors to even turn on. Plug it up properly and then try starting the computer again with the monitor plugged into the card.

You need both the 6 pin and 8pin (or 6+2 pin) plugs plugged in at the same time. The first powers on the fans, leds etc and some part of the core(as you said yourself), and the other the rest of the core. You need BOTH plugged in for it to work.
