New Graphics card

Hi everyone
I am new to this forum but I want to say just how interesting some of the topics are, hopefully I will learn quite a bit here.
Can anyone tell me please if I am heading in the right direction.
My PC has an ASUS M4A87TD mainboard with 8Mb of DDR3 memory and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX460 graphiocs card. The processor is an AMD Phenom IIX4 965. Not exactly cutting edge I know, but adequate up to now. The latest games are getting harder for my system to run and I wondered if a better graphics card may help. I am looking at an ASUS Strix GTX960, Would this give me much of a performance gain.

Yes, gtx 960 would give you a massive performance boost over gtx 460. Your cpu should bottleneck the card some nice your processor won't be able to keep up. I would go for the cheaper gtx 950 instead. Also, ensure that your power supply can deliver 450w or greater.

Thank you ak47jar3d. If I was to use a GTX 950 would I still get a performance boost. My PSU is 450w by the way. Also if the CPU bottlenecks the Graphics card what will happen ?

Yes, the gtx 950 will work with a 450w psu. The performance gain will be massive. Cpu bottleneck will cause you to lose frames as the card won't be able to reach 100% usage becuase you cpu can't keep up.
