New hdd not detected

So my laptop's hdd broke about a month ago and today i got new one but my the problem with my new one is installing windows, windows 8 wont detect my hdd so what do i do ubuntu also cant detect my hdd

Hi there Geikko,

Have you tried your old HDD on another computer so you are sure that the HDD is at fault but not your laptop?
Is the drive recognized by BIOS? In case it is not, I guess you should attach the new HDD to another system as well. If it gets detected properly, you will need to take your laptop to a repair shop.

And where is this hdd list in bios?

There are different types of BIOS. Just go through the menus. I believe it should show under the Main menu.
