New HDD with Vista OS -

I have a new 500gb hdd. The Vista install gets so far before crashing. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Initially it said no bootmgr which I have corrected but now it is not allowing the OS to load/install.

Sadly I am unsure what is causing this or how to progress.

Can Vista even "see" the hard disk? Check in the BIOS to see if there's an option for AHCI and if so, change that to IDE and try again. How did you fix the lack of bootmgr?

Hey, thank you for the reply but I've admitted defeat and am taking it in for repairs...will save my sanity and give me an extra few years on my life.

A bit hasty and have you thought about the poor repairer having to find the answer to this? Worse still - he might be me! 😀 Good luck with it.
