New i5 2400 build. Need a little advice on a few parts

Hi all. Long time reader/researcher on Tom's. Getting ready for a new build (1st one in a few years, and 1st intel build in a looong time) , and looking for a few suggestions about a couple of parts. Guess I'll start with what I have sorta decided on so far...

Approximate Purchase Date: over the next few weeks

Budget Range: Prob around 1k 1.2k before monitor

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Games mostly,surfing, nothing too demanding like video editing or anything

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Normally use Newegg due to prices and having a warehouse in my city (next day delivery!)

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Mainly looking for suggestions for a Mobo, thinking of a P67. and just to make sure im not making a mistake on anything here. TY all in advance for any help.

I'd go with an H61 board to save some cash since you can't overclock anyway on the i5-2400. You can still get them with USB 3 and SATA 3 etc. 16GB is also far too much RAM for gaming, even 8GB would be overkill but it's cheap so 8GB is common. 750W is also way too much power for a card like that, 450-500W would be enough for a 460.

I think instead of that build you would be better with something like this personally.

i5-2500k - Awesome value if you plan to overclock.

ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 - Good overclocking and all the features you're going to need.

8GB Corsair Vengeance LP - 8GB is very cheap and may help in future, there really is no reason to get more than this for gaming.

EVGA GTX 560Ti (Fermi) - This card is great value for money, much better than the GTX 460.

Antec BP550 Plus 550W - Nice solid PSU with modular cables and more than enough power for this build.

Coolermaster Storm Scout - Nice well designed case which is awesome value for money.

Total - ~$750

This would be far better than what you have there for gaming. For storage I would recommend a 128GB Crucial M4 SSD then just wait till hard prices go down and get a 1TB drive or something.

Drop to 8 GB RAM and get one of these. (560ti) (there is a cheaper one if you don't mind doing a rebate)

And grab an h61 board, since you won't be able to overclock that 2400 anyway. This should be at or below current cost with a p67 board. You could drop to a lower wattage PSU (650W or less) as well.

I may go with the i5 2500k, most of the stuff i read suggested the 2400 for gaming since from what i gather you dont get much more for gaming outta the 2500k. And guess i left out the reasoning behind the 750w and the 460. Was planning on getting the single card now, then getting another 460 in a few months, i tend to overbuy on PSU's..lol Guess I could drop down to 8g for now, and get the 2500k. Also was just planning on going with a 500GB hard drive, then maybe make the jump to SSD later on.

The i5-2500k isn't much better than the i5-2400 at stock but you can't overclock on the 2400, you can on the 2500k. With a relatively cheap $40 cooler you should be able to get a +30% performance boost.

I wouldn't bother planning for SLI personally, it's only worth it if you plan to play over 3 monitors or at 2560x1600 etc. A decent single card such as the GTX 560Ti/HD 6950 or GTX 570/HD 6970 is fine for a single monitor at 1920x1080.
