I am replacing my old i7 7700k because I thought it might be defective, it worked fine in my asus z170-a. So now I put in the new CPU which is the exact same as the one I used and now my computer won't boot, all the lights and fans come on but screen stays black, I also put my old CPU back in and same problem help

or yes have heard people say credit card

though i think that might be too large and might bump other pins and possibly block your sight of what you are trying to fix

though have never tried it with one

the angled fine tip tweezers are my choice as find with tiny screwdriver or needle you have less control and can bend them back up too far

again though comes down to how steady your hand is

That hopefully will fix it. Bent pins will either cause an absolute failure of the system or strange symptoms. Every single pin is connected in a circuit to control a specific system, from the HDD to the RAM to the PCIe lanes. Two pins contacting could be shorting the system which just causes any of the above plus possible damage...Shorting electricity is never fun.

I had a single bent pin in the socket of one of my motherboards and it caused a failure of the B side DIMM slots. The entire rest of the board worked just fine and very very well.

Your first best bet is to try to repair it. With those pins bent I'm fairly positive the system isn't going to work, so the board is moot. If you fix it no harm no foul.

If you trust someone you know to have a very steady hand, they might be able to.

If you can't though it's about time for a new Mobo.

i have asus z270 board

think the leds are maybe meant to go out

thats if its the same as mine might not be

mine come on--not sure which order with out looking at the manual--something like

cpu led goes on then off if its ok

ram led goes on then off if its ok

gpu led goes on then off if its ok

and boot device led goes on then off if its ok

though your motherboard manual will tell you

It is now booting, with both sticks and new CPU! Appreciate all the help, not sure what the fix was but nothing worked till I tried booting up with one stick of ram, but I'm guessing fixing the pins helped too

overclocking to 4.8 ghz and it blue screened at 1.3

the 7700k runs reasonably hot

i would try a less severe test

and check your pump speed
