Ok the pro-books are not junk... Have you used a new one.. I bet not

You're right.
They are expensive junk.
And in this economy I doubt many people are using anything that is new let alone something they can't easily upgrade.

How come noone is commenting on the How about this pink one? .. and the kids face.. and music stopping 😀

Now that was funny 😀 Would never expected something like that from MS commercial 😉

Meh. If Mac wants to dominate they have to allow clones. Their tight control, high prices, and poor developer relations keep people on PCs. Without Steve Jobs now there is no other way, otherwise Mac will fade away again. I don't really like OSX, or the the Mac designs, but alot of people do. If Apple competed better with Microsoft then Microsoft would be forced to have lower prices on their OS, as well as be forced to make a better OS. I think that pressure from Linux, and maybe a feather of pressure from BSD, has forced Microsoft to make a more secure, if not annoying, OS. Still that hasn't really forced Microsoft to compete on the OS UI. If they had to compete with OSX on more even footing, then Microsoft really would have to put in innovations that people like, rather than "Ooo, that's cool. Lets put that in there. Who cares if the user complains. Like they have a choice" 😀.

First of all, I'm a PC user. I've tried using a co-worker's Mac, and don't like it. With that said...

I still like the Mac commercials better. They are more entertaining in my mind. lol

[citation][nom]michaelahess[/nom]Seriously, why all the arguing over this? Mac's have their place, of course, just like PC's.What we need to be worried about is all the retarded school kids buying expensive laptops to do their homework. Money no longer seems to matter, which means these idiots will perpetuate our current economic situation. Which of course is based off poor money management for those of you who can't put 2 and 2 together.Parents need to stand up and say, "hell no, a $3000 laptop is NOT going with you to school!" Even if the kid can affford it with his/her own money the parents should explain the lost concept of need vs. want! Now if you need a mobile video workstation or some such, sure grab a Mac if you think it's worth it. Otherwise be a WISE consumer and get something better and cheaper.Own a BMW/Merc/Jag, etc? You fall into that entire economic crisis cause thing I mentioned earlier. If you bought it used for a good price, you're exempt[/citation]

I totally disagree with your economic reasoning here. I'm not for buying Mac. But spending more money, is better for the economy. What's BAD for the economy, is buying on credit and then having your home foreclosed on. Buying your kid a $3,000 laptop (that you can afford) is NOT bad for the economy.

That's exactly what our economy needs. It needs people who are willing to spend the money they already have. The exchange of money from one entity to another is what drives our economy forward. The pinching of pennies is what is driving us backwards.

It's bad for the economy when the markup is so high and the profits limited to so few. Buy from a company that has a lower profit margin and they are still paying all the workers, and you have more money to spend on other stuff, thus "spreading the wealth". Think through what you say before saying it. That's why I brought up the car's, higher markup means more money for the few, not what we need right now.

Informed consumers have a much better impact on the economy than mis or ill informed ones that just want to spend their money buying frivilous things.

i have had my macbook pro for about 2 1/2 years and love it. it's not perfect but it works without all the bells and whistles that other pc laptops have. i like the fact that apple is keeping their laptops simple, which results in less problems.

So the economic crisis is my fault because I can afford a 50k car? WTF is that shit. Recession was created by greedy wallstreet people. Its being kept alive by the media.

However I do agree teenagers do not need a Mac in any shape or form and thats even for video editing. We all know PCs can do that just as well as a Mac.

If you look at the title of the 3 new stories.

New Microsoft Ad Says Macs are Cool With Kids.
New Microsoft Ad Says Being Sexy Isn't Everything
PC Says to Mac: Yeah, well, I'm CHEAP!

You would think that a Mac ad is coming.

Smoking cigarettes used to be portrayed as cool.

Now they are proven to be a dumb choice.

Only time will tell.

I find people that are pro-Mac quite entertaining.

Rawr!!!! ! I like my commercials better because I'm used to one operating system and am ignorant and don't want to learn other things. Your operating system and you are stupid. RAWR!!

LMAO, get a life =]

-This was typed on a dual boot PC running MAC OS (hackingtosh) and XP, please don't kill the hybrid!

LOL you guys should start a personal computing KKK group cuz this really seems like where it's going. If you don't like something just fucking ignore it and use what you like; no one cares about your skewed opinions.

No, they should spend money if they have the money to spend. We need to get the flow of money going, rather than holding onto it so tightly. As long as you can pay cash, rather than putting it on credit (the whole issue in the first place), you'll help stimulate the economy.

Popular with kids? Kids can't afford such product. It should be popular with rich people for exmp: Most Hollywood movie are always feature a Macbook as a laptop of choice and most movie star like shinny and expensive stuff so Apple come in mind. I have an iphone 3g and loving it but I really really hate Macs computer. They still use one mouse button? WT**** man! It really depend on what product but in this case they should be battling who has the best most supported OS (Windows) instead of who have cheaper user friendly computers (Windows still). WTH I'm saying just slam on more ADs against Apple and maybe it irritate Apple and inspire them to be better.

Do you guys remember when toms used to do articles on hardware? Now all they do is take any mac rumors and make a huge deal about it, or they take something Microsoft does and pretends like they are the evil empire and look apple does it like this... STFU toms, nobody cares, your site sucks balls now... You aren't a hardware site anymore, you are a gui loving site. Heaven knows apple has never been able to write a good OS. They sucked so bad at it they had to buy the unix OS and put a gui on top of it...

"Blu-ray -- something definitely not available on Macs as Steve Jobs feels that the format is currently a quantity of hurt packaged in bags."

Steve Jobs is a F*ing moron. He just doesn't want to pay any blu-ray roylties to Sony.

wow. i didn't know winblows had so many stone-cold supporters. it's funny how THG has posted several stories about how the "apple tax" only applies to upgrades, and all that, yet the 'open minded' and 'factually rooted' users here seem to talk the same smack day in and day out.

y'all are retarded. lunix ftw.

I have about 1000 hours working with OSX so I wouldn't call my opinion skewed. Am I a MS fanboi?... not in the least. I just call em like I see them.

If the tables were turned and Apple was the company that had faster hardware for 1/2 the money. If Apple had 50 times the amount of software choices. If Apple basically had the only gaming platform available. I would be typing this on a Apple and scratching my head everytime someone bought anything else. How can you argue with that?

Wait, if they don't like Macs (which are white), shouldn't they start a Black Panther group or something (not sure what black power groups there are nowadays)?

I would never buy a Mac because I know how to use computers and prefer to have choices instead of a company telling me what is "trendy". Plus, I tried using Apple computers on several occasions and I could never get past the one=button mouse and the "Mac-way" or doing things with the ever-present menu on top. Having said that, I'm glad that Apple exists as a company, because I keeps Microsoft on their toes. After Windows Vista (which I don't have a problem with, but many people do), they got their act together with Windows 7. If the only competition for Windows were various X window managers on linux, we would not have nearly the features and the polish that Windows 7 has.
