Thanks,

I'm coming from an 8320 @4.3 so I sorta want the i7 and I used to have an h100i too

If all you want to do is game, then I would go for an i5 4670k and 8gb ram and put the money saved into a gtx 770 or a 7970 - you'll get better gaming performance for roughly the same price as you current build.

Get an FX-8350. Choosing a i5, according to TekSyndicate, is not REALLY an upgrade. The FX-8350 beats many i5s and is way cheaper. A good GPU is more important than a CPU so get the FX-8350 and put the rest of the money into a good GPU.

Agree 100%. I built my i5 3570K because the i5 3570K was suppose to be better for gaming. As I found out that was just not the case. While I really like my i5 rig as for gaming there was not a increase in gaming performance.

Plus as more and more game dev's learn how to us the 8 core AMD CPU's they will become more and more important. The fact is even a i7 does not really have 8 cores and while the FX-8350's cores do share some resources they are much closer to 8 cores than what intel has to offer. In fact some games even have stutter problems with i7's when Hyperthreading is enabled and must be turned off in the BIOS to fix it.

The reason I'm switching from amd to Intel is because of the motherboard choice, also I wanted to give Intel a chance!

Tiny is completely right about this. You will honestly have a better rig with AMD because AMD cpus are cheaper so you can buy a way better GPU. Now if you are going to be doing something besides hard-core gaming then maybe you can go with Intel, depending on what you plan on doing. An overclocked FX-8350 will stomp all over intel cpus in gaming.

You won't be gaining anything. If you are willing to pay more for less performance and a "name" then be my guest... But to be honest I fail to see why you would. That money you will be saving by getting an AMD cpu can be put into getting a better GPU. An intel rig with a crappy GPU will make a horrible gaming computer. An AMD rig with a good GPU will make an awesome gaming computer.

Stomp all over intel?? Name one game where the 8350 will stomp all over an over clocked 4670k?? The fx will match the i5 in gaming and multithreaded tasks but it will also use much more power(upto 50% more as compared to an i5) and might just force a PSU upgrade thereby cancelling out any gain you might have made in costs initially

http://

That should enlighten you. :3

but does asus make mini itx am3+ boards??

Perhaps you should give that a read.
Also my main concern with the 8350 was the much higher power consumption, meaning you would have to get a better PSU.

A better PSU will only cost $30 more. An intel CPU will cost $40 to $200. You can just overclock the FX-8350 and get better performance. YoungWolf's rig will get you horrible gaming performance. Spending all your money on the CPU and getting a crappy GPU will make your system bottleneck a lot. Get the FX-8350 and a good GPU and PSU and watch the magic. 😀

Here is an Asus micro ATX AM3+ (FX's socket type): http://www.antonline.com/p_M5A78L-M%20LX3-GA_1027449.htm?sID=GA&gclid=CKXk-O3HgroCFYWf4AodXm8Akw

no i want an mini itx motherboard

It still has decent comparison on specks/performance.

Not really at all actually, It gives weight to thing like overclocking, value, threads, turbo speed.

All things that don't really matter for a direct comparison and should be discounted. Plus, nowhere on here would you see that games perform identical on both chips, which is important.

Like I said, Look at anandtech.con
