[SOLVED] New motherboard buying help

Hello, I have recently fried my old Pegatron Formosa IPMMB-FM motherboard and I am now looking for a replacement.
My CPU is an old i7 3770 so I found the Asus sabertooth z77 which looked like a great fit the downside is the price tag of 200 euros.
The question that I have now is am I better of just buying a new motherboard + CPU combo or sticking to the old CPU and buying an old motherboard?
I'm kinda out of my league on this one so I hope some of you could help.

Really depends on budget. You need not just a new board and cpu, but ram as well. These together depending on what you pick will run at least $300. Or more. Less if you go way low end. The bright side is you'll have a modern up to date system. The down side is the money spent. I would get either a used board for a good price, or spend the coin needed for a new core setup.

At this point I would defiantly upgrade everything. Hardware that old should not be used in today's tasks unless all you are doing is web browsing and light emulation. Please let me know what kind of a budget you are working with and I'll send you a list of parts that fits that budget. I have build whole new systems for less than $600 USD but that is on the real lower end these days considering prices right now.

Certainly worth it to pick up a new board and CPU, but that also means RAM.

late model i3-10100 would be the equivalent to an i7-3770 and not being too expensive, and you can always go for an i5 to get six cores.

CPU has no onboard graphics, non-F versions are more expensive, but include Intel graphics. Can always get larger memory capacities if needed.

I still have a gtx 1050ti from my old pc that I would like to reuse (i know it's old but I do not game enough for a new high-end graphics card).

Depends on what you are after. If you want a faster system, just add i5-10400F, bump up to 2x8GB kit of memory (B560 allows XMP profiles, so you could go for 3000Mhz memory), given the age of your system, probably a new power supply would be in order. Maybe some new case fans, or a new chassis if you want a change.

You do now have access to NVMe storage drives, so that is something to consider.
