I just got a Gigabyte P35-DS3L motherboard with an Intel Core2 Duo E4300 processor from Newegg, but my new DDR2-800 memory won't arrive until Monday. Would it be possible to use my current DDR-400 memory for the weekend, or is it just plain incompatible? I know the performance would be lousy if it is even possible, but it's just so much fun to put a new system together.

I didn't even think about the size, I was just thinking about the speed. Guess I'll just have to wait.

DDR2 is a 240 pin memory while DDR is 184 pin so it wont physically fit.

And just to let you know, the DDR 400 ram would work fine with the E4300 if you had a compatible board like the dualvsta with both DDR and DDR2 slots. This is because the FSB of a E4300 is 200 and would work in a 1:1 ratio with the DDR400.
