I have been a strong critic of Quad FX, but this power supply isn't meant for it. This power supply is meant for people that for some other reason have high power demands. It is also meant for people that like to over-kill things.

A 1 kilo-watt power supply will be sufficient for 99% of all Quad FX systems.

That would definitely help to make your rig future proof. I actually like Ultra PSUs... I might consider one for my next upgrade 😛

I'm not a fanboy of either. But looking at the specs of the Quad FX... I have a hard enough time keeping the components in my case at a reasonable level (Mainly due to the ATI card with the aftermarket cooler). AMD Quad FX = great heating unit for winter and high AC bill during summer.
