New PSU computer wont start.

Hi guys, i have a Gateway DX4860-32p pre built computer that i bought from best buy.
I wanted to upgrade to a higher video card so i bought 600W power supply and a gtx 560 ti

i hooked everything up downloaded the driver and then 5 minutes in it froze and i had to hard reboot.
Turned it back on it did the same thing. Turned it off, and tried to turn it back on, but all the fan and lights came on but no picture and the is a high pitched continuous noise and wont go off til i turn it off.

my mother board is a ipisb-vr 1.0 and i just spent a lot of money so if anyone can help THANK YOU

What is the make and model of the new 600 Watt power supply unit?

What component is the high pitched squeal coming from? Power supply unit? Video card? Motherboard?

its a thermaltake tr2 600w model is tr-600
and it sounds like it is coming from either the motherboard or PSU its really hard to tell

is it from a lack of power or to much power by any chance, or is it a faulty PSU?

First the noise you hear; can you find the source? Usually a sound like that in from a fan or something rubbing against a fan. Second, what slot did you put the card in? Is anything hitting the GPU fan? Remove the card and see if things go back to normal. I would also swap back the PSU. That Thermaltake is not a very good PSU. The reviews of the 750w version of the same line show it to be rather defective; not delivering rated power, poor regulation.... It is a discontinued model line from what I can tell. Also did you reconfigure the video in the bios? You will now have to select the card as the default device. If there is no mechanical issues with something rubbing on a fan I would think PSU is the problem (it is not the size btw but the quality of the psu).

there is nothing hitting any fans, the card is nowhere near anything of that sort. I put my ear to the Thermaltake psu and i can hear the noise from there, i placed the old PSU took out the card and it worked, i guess i need a new PSU

The Thermaltake TR2 Series 600W have a proven reputation as low quality crap.
