New rig wont power up hdd and cddrive

im putting together a system with the msi kt4 ultra and it powers up fine but neither my hdd or cd drive are getting power and thus arent getting detected during the boot up sequence. but when i put them in my older system they work fine. everything else in the new system is getting power btw. would it be bad ata connectors on the new mobo? i figured that wouldnt affect the power tho.

Or it could be the power supply that is not attached properly to the drives. Just make sure the 4-wire power plugs are securely plugged into the power connector on the drives. Also try to press the eject button on the cd drive after powering up the pc to see if the drive is working.
