Ok, im looking to update my old 650i, pentium D rig to something that can keep up with the latest games at decent resolutions, i also do plenty of photoshop work and video encoding so im thinking of 64 bit.

These are my choices based on a £1000-1500 budget, i am however looking for bang for buck so to speak. Any opinions or recomendations on my choices? I personally think the i7 system sounds most promising for future upgradeability...

Thanks guys, any help is much appreciated..

1: change any of the 500GB drives to Western Digital Black 640GB models
2: ditch any of the velociraptor drives, if you really need the speed, get an ssd (though it's not really in your budget)
3: any build that has 2 DVD drives, only keep the burner, save yourself the 20 bucks or so
4: save money and use Windows 7 RC until the OEm/System builder comes out then get it

i would go with either build 1 or the last one
if you go with the last one (AMD) get the M4A79T Deluxe and change the memory to G.Skill DDR3 1333 (if you need more memory than 4GB, DDR3 might be cheaper later and it is certainly not that much more expensive now)

i agree with this, especially the hard drive. get that 640 WD instead of the 500. i7 is definitely the way to go and that antec 900 is a killer case.
