So I just bought a new ssd and to be frank I really don’t know what I’m doing. I have everything plugged in and it’s working I just don’t know what to do from there. I don’t know what boot sequence to put it in and if there’s other stuff I have to install. I’m overall just very confused.

Boot 1: CD
Boot 2: Diskette Drive
Boot 3: ADATA
Boot 4: ST500DM002
Boot 5: USB Storage Device

Solution
OK...a 500GB target drive and 340GB actual consumed space.

Specific steps for a successful clone operation:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
This is to allow the system to try to boot from ONLY the...
What specific SSD? Actual make/model.
What specific motherboard?
What OS?
You only current drive is the 500GB Seagate spinning drive?

What do you want the end state to be? What do you plan to use the SSD for?
The SSD is an ADATA SU800
The motherboard is an Optiplex 7010
OS is Windows 10
I’m not sure I bought the computer used and the HDD is completely filled and my friend told me that if I get an SSD it’ll be a lot faster so

There are two methods of properly utilizing this new SSD.

1. Clean install of the OS and everything else on the new drive. More work, but this always works.

2. A migration from old drive to new. Given those sizes, you need to reduce the actual space on the HDD to below 400GB.
Get to that point, and we can discuss how to migrate everything.

Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe all partitions on it.
This will probably require the commandline diskpart function, and the clean command.
