Hi,

I just unboxed a new Samsung 860 EVO SSD and have assigned it to drive letter E. My external USB3.0 HDD used to come up under that letter however I had it unplugged the entire time during this process. I opened my new SSD and some of the folders that are on my HDD are showing up and I can go through them into the folder structure that was on the drive.

I was wondering why this is happening and if it's an issue, or do I just delete these folders and I'm good to go?

Thanks!

That should not be happening, there is something else that was done to the system. It's impossible for a new drive to show the files from another one that is not connected to the system under normal setup. Did you setup a virtual link to the drive letter from another location maybe?

I don't even know what that means so I'll say no Haha.

My entire process was:
Turn off and unplug pc
Connect new SSD to sata port
Unplug external hdd
Turn computer on
Initialize SSD within windows with a quick format and select drive letter E

After this I opened the drive and there were the folders. I double checked to make sure the external was disconnected and it was. I ended up deleting folders and using like normal but I'm still curious.
