New System Advice

This is my proposed gaming rig. Estimated order date July 1, 2009. Most likely will remain gaming rig through one CPU and one video card product cycle upgrade. What does the community at large think? We're talking left 4 dead, TF2, and what ever other new games might come out in the near future running on the latest compatible OS. I'm drunk so please ignore (or make fun of me for) mistakes and feel free to suggest whatever.

Whats your Monitor Resolution?

and the 4890 would be a better video card. same price currently too, i heard that amd ati systems perform better at games running on the source engine =p just a rumor maybe.

I usually run my OS in 1028 x 1024. I tend to put games at the highest resolution they will run w/o having a negative impact on the frame rate if that makes any sense.

Here is a combo of the X3 720 + ASUS M4A78T-E AM3 for about $195
It is unbeatable for that price...

Get that card or this one for lesser price...
HIS HD 4890...It would outperform that GTX 260...
though for your resolution, you wont notice much difference but @ higher resolutions, you would see the difference...

Looks like I missed that deal. Checked it out this morning and planned on researching it today but now it's gone.

Why does every version of every graphics card have like 4 or more different manufacturers? Do these different mfg use the same materials, processes, and specifications or do they vary and if so will performance vary?

That combo is still active...check it out...
Every version of every graphic cards have so many different manufacturers so that we have good competition and better products as the manufacturers would compete to deliver better...
And not all manufacturers use the same materials...Reputed manufacturers put in High quality components onto the card and better power management...
But the specs would be same as it majorly comes down to the graphic chip that is present on the card...
There might be very slight performance difference but a major difference in quality of the components...
