New system build-Boot device question

I have just completely put together my new computer. now i only have one question.
When i turn it on and it starts everything works fine but the second screen that comes up says:

Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and select a key.

Now i was just wondering if it wants me to put in my operating system...this is my first build and i would have found out if thats what the computer wanted by putting in a OS cd but i have not bought one yet...

So im just wondering if its asking for an OS cd.

Pretty much yes. You need to make sure your CD/DVD drive is the first boot device then load a bootable disk, such as an OS disk.
