I think the Q8200 might be a bit slow. Maybe get a E8400 instead? It should be around the same price as the Q8200, and you really don't need quad core for most games (I'm assuming that's what you'll be using the GTX260 for).

__________

By bottleneck I think he meant to say that the performance of your GTX260 will be limited by the slower speed of the Q8200

i picked the 260 just due to i dont think ssd's are ready or near a good price point

ok that helps me now....

first ditch intel, and ditch Nvidia.

for just about the price of a Q8200 and P45 motherboard you can get a P2 940 and 790GX motherboard, and P2 940's are in no way slacking CPU's. the new motherboard will also allow you to OC further because 7xx nvidia motherboards can't OC very well.

then drop the 260 for a 4870 or 4890 since you can't SLI on a crossfire board.

All right, mystery solved. I thought there actually was a way to put 4 of those on a motherboard and do SLI :) I read about a guy who did that, but on a 790FX board and used them for CUDA, not SLI.

I agree with Helloworld, the Q8200 is not the best choice for gaming. If you're interested in gaming and very little else, the E8400 or E8500 will do better, especially with a little overclocking. If you want a machine that plays games well but also shines at encoding videos or programming or FSX, then a Q9550 is well worth it, or even an upgrade to i7 920/x58.

If you're absolute set on getting a quad core, you can go with Phenom II 940 with 790X for just about the same price (less then $40 difference I believe) as an E8500 system.

If cost is not an issue, go for i7.

i wanted the i7 but i just don't have the money right now. i know i am going to be happy with the quad core for the wide range of things i do.. but i also want to see what other combos people had in mind..

just a few things i wanted to know if anyone knows, if that video card is to long for that case? from the reviews people say you can fit the biggest cards out so i am hoping that's true..

also i suck at picking out a PSU as i just cant understand the amps and multi-rail and single rail stuff

more amps the better.

Ideally you want a rail for the CPU, one for the mobo and PCI/ sound cards etc, and one for each gfx card.

it just means that if one rail fails only one part of your system fails whereas if you have one rail and that rail fails, say goodbye to your PC, sometimes.

It seems that the problem was with 7200.11 series, which have since been fixed (I think).

I guess he can always switch to WD Cavier to be on the safe side.
