yeah I read <A HREF="http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NDY0" target="_new">this</A> and I've gone with the 9600pro. Appearantly the 9500pro is not fun to oc.

9500np is very fun...find a 9700np based 9500...saphires on new egg...do the driver mod that doubles its pipelines...you have a 2/3 chance of getting a 9700 out of it without altering the clock speed!

So easy to fry yet tastes so good...

Yeah that was my first choice, but I couldn't find a reasonably priced 9500np. I live in canada remember, so ordering across the boarder isn't a good option due to customs.

Crap. While I'm down in Vancouver, I'm about to pick up some hardware for my friend. He has an ECS K7SEM motherboard. It only supports a 266fsb speed. Now he wants to grab a barton 2500+ with 333fsb. Will this work or not? Should I advise him to upgrade his motherboard too?

yes...strongly...if not you will be running the chipset 25% above rated spec...your agp and pci buses will be all out of wack...although if you have proper chipset cooling there is a 66 percent chance (off of the top of my head) of it working...but it will be a pain and cause complications...

my recomendation is an epox 8rda+...good board...good price!

If boards were not so cheep these days i would tell ya to go for it and try to overclock the board past rated spec...but you can pick up a quality board for less than 100bux...damn good IMO...
