I'm looking to build a new system. I recently built a new computer for my wife, that is a Dual Core E7400, with a 4850 video card. I really liked the Antec 900 case so I think I am going to stick with that. I also ordered a Westinghouse 26" monitor already.

Here is what I had in mind, but after reading a bit here I was thinking about making a few changes. This is all from Newegg.

119.99 Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail

194.99 ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

154.99 SAPPHIRE 100245L Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail

129.99 CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - Retail

229.00 AMD Phenom II X4 940 Deneb 3.0GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Black Edition Processor Model HDZ940XCGIBOX - Retail

64.99 G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK - Retail

79.99 Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

24.99 LG 22X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model GH22NS30 - OEM

99.99 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders - OEM

Total is $1068.92

Some of the changes I was thinking about that I had read on here were to change out the motherboard. Sounds like I can get something cheaper, but not sure what would be a good idea.

The memory I was thinking about switching out, but not sure what to go with. Is the 1066 really needed? Also with the prices is 8GB really worth it?

Finally I was thinking about changing the video card to the 4870.

Mostly the computer is used for WoW and a few other games here and there, but I also do some database work, and plan on doing some photo editing soon, possibly video, but not sure on that.

Pretty much everything is flexible, other than the $1000ish price range.

Thanks for any help.

(Phenom II 940 + GA-MA790GP-DS4H AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX $333)

Consider the PC Power & Cooling S75CF 750W. It's $30 less than the 750TX.

Use the savings to upgrade to HD 4870 1GB. You need more than a HD 4850 for 1920x1200.

You don't need 8 GB for gaming. 4GB is almost as good. Get DDR2-800.

definitely dont need 8 gig of ram .

Some one published a lik here a few days ago and 8 gig actually decreased frame rates in some games and didnt help much in others .

Once you have subbed in Aevm's comb suggestion and the 4870 1 gig its a great machine
Its still pretty good with a 4850 since most games will be fine at 1920 x 1200 if you drop details a bit
