[SOLVED] New System Windows 7 support

Ok, I will try to keep this short.

A friend of mine contacted me earlier and ask me if there is any hardware aviable today that will run Windows 7 flawlessly. Of course I told him Windows 7 is dead, end of support, etc., and ask him Why he wanted that?.

He runs a bussiness with a few medium size MFP (Multifunction copy/printer/scanner) which sorta old, but still working great, and they only have full working drivers and software support in Widnows 7 (specially for the scanner/copy part). Im curently investigating this claims of him since, Im not sure if there are drivers or not yet.

In the meant time, Does anyone tried to run Windows 7 with an AMD A8 9600 (or similar) + A320 mobo with sucess (this is the oldest combo i can get brand new today)? If I had one PC laying around with this components I woudl try it myself but sadly I don't.

Thank you for any answer.

Solution
I think 6th gen intel will be the most recent processor that has drivers that can run windows 7.
I have a small system with a I5-6600K kept exclusively to run windows 7 32 bit.
VM not an option?

Thanks for your answer, I considered VMs, but I think using this usb devices (like this old copy/printer/scanner my friend told me about) in a virtual machine will probably not be easy to deal with, specially if he have a problem and I can assist in resolving the issue fast. I mean I got my own work lol. He may have to stop working for hours or even a day and thats not really an option.

Good news is that it seems (not tested yet) this printers do have windows 10 drivers. So we will eventually try to make 1 of them work with a notebook. If it works, he may be able to get rid of the old system and get something way faster like even, the one i posted. (Hes currently runing a Sempron LE-1250 + 2GB of RAM..... dear Lord it hurts to even read it).

Anyways thank you!

When 'flawlessly' is expected that raises the bar. There's plenty of 'new-old' stock available, spec him out a system using a CPU, motherboard and memory for it.

Otherwise, there are ways of getting Win7 to install on newer hardware but it seems to me there's always a support problem since it's not really 'on-spec' at all. A bit dangerous to turn your back on that when 'flawless' is expected.

Have those printers actually been tested on a Win 10 system, and proven to fail?

Yeah I know, I will do some testing tomorrow (I hope) or on Saturday and see what can we do with whats available on Ricoh support page.

Thanks for the answer!!!

Test, before jumping into the deep end.

Plus, possible drivers from the printer manufacturer.

The only printer I've had recently that would not work with Win 10 is a 2003 era Dell 3100cn.

Ok update, it seems that the tech guy from the printers told him that some scaning functions don't work on Windows 10 (so my friend concluded that the printers don't work with Windows 10), specially using an ethernet cable.
Im not soo sure how much this tech guy knows. So yes, I will probably get a better idea in the next days.

Thanks again!

Clueless 'tech guys' are a common thing.

I've had reps from Microsoft tell me, categorically..."Foo is not possible with Windows >whatever>"
'Yes it is, dude....even accoring to your text at other links'.

Test, before accepting their edict.

This is very true, you only have to go to answers.microsoft.com to see it in action. Certainly worth testing for yourself, might find it's totally fine and does everything you need. Or that the functions that don't work aren't actually needed.

You'll know more once you're on the ground and in situ actually working with the kit.
