new system won't post

recently built a new system, specs are:
amd athlon 64 3000+ venice
asus a8n-vm
antec truepower 430 watt
512 (2) corsair VS ddr400

on powerup, system won't post, all the fans are working and the mobo has power. no abnormal beeps either. I reset the cmos and tried reseating the cpu, but it didn't help at all. any suggestions would be incredibly helpful, as I don't want to have to replace the cpu if the real problem is the motherboard, and vice versa.

Did you check to be sure everything is plugged in just fine?

Try it with only one stick of ram and remove any cards that are not necessary
Check all the cards and connectors.
Make sure that you have the mobo spacers in the right places...

And cross your fingers.

I'm having a no video problem myself, so I know how frustrating that can be.

Does your psu have the 20, or the 24 pin connector?
Did you plug in the 4 pin connector that goes above and in back of the chip socket?
