New thermal compound on PS3

Hi i am wondering whats the best way to apply acrtic silver 5 themal paste to my ps3 chips, i have cleaned them up so i am now ready to apply but should i spread or dot ?.

A small dot, spreading it can cause bubbles.

Yes thats what i have read and seen on youtube, but still lots of people spread.

Well those people are either using liquid metal (wich needs to be spreaded) or didn't ask here 😀.
