New to the pc gaming scene

Probably scrap everything except the harddrive and sell it for parts on CL or something like that. You can make a decent gaming pc for around 600-800 with an i5

CPU: i5-3570k in case you want to overclock
CPU cooler: hyper 212+
MOBO: Gigabyte
RAM: 8gb RAM
PSU: OCZ 600W
Video: 7850
HDD: use your old one

$705 after rebates

CASE: might be able to use your old one if it isnt too small, but heres a suggestions: antec 300

If your ram right now is 1.65 don't reuse it, but if its 1.5v you don't need new ram

Thats the wrong computer. The one you linked to has a phenom 2 x6 while OP's has a phenom 2 x2.
edit: I guess theres other options. But still might as well upgrade the mobo if your gonna upgrade the cpu, and you'll need a psu if you upgrade graphics cause that 300w psu aint running anything good. So might as well build a new one

Hello i have built/upgraded 3 of my friends computers from mainstream ones like urs, and you can most likely keep the hdd, blueray, graphics, motherboard. But i suggest upgrading the cpu b/c it is only 2 cores and the memory b/c of the low clock Here is what i suggest. For ram, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314 2x4gb 1600 mhz ddr3 sdram. And for a new cpu, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727 AMD phenom x4 965 3.4 ghz. And a heatsink to cool it such as, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065 hyper 212 plus. Now if you do want a new graphics card i would suggest getting an http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121442 Asus 6670 1gb. And if you get a new gpu you will need a new psu so i suggest getting the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371023 it is same format as consumer psu's but it gives you the power you will need for the gpu.It all comes out to about 339$ You will most likely have to go into the bios and set the ram to xmp though. If you have any questions just ask me.
