New to working with RAM

Good morning,

I have been trying to upgrade the RAM on my Lenovo desktop PC. It is the k450e model. I currently have 8 GB DDR3 (2 x 4 GB). I have been trying to install 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR3. It isn't working.

As I am new to this, I've noticed that the RAM I currently have installed runs at 798 MHz. The ram I'm trying to install is compatible with 1066, 1333, & 1600 MHz.

What is the best route to go if I want to i8ncrease my RAM? Do I need to replace my motherboard? I'm obviously a little lost, so any help would be appreciated.

It depends on what motherboard you have.

First check for a BIOS update from Lenovo. Test with only the new sticks of RAM, and try them one at a time also.
