Hi,

I am not really a video person, but I want to add a video to my blog.

The problem is, I can't seem to get it below 36.8mb! The video is just
under 6 minutes, 160x120 pixels. I'm currently saving it as avi, since that
is the only setting I can see in my digital camera software.

Can anybody give me some idea how to shrink this thing down? And any free
easy to use tools to do it?

Thanks in advance.

You can try the free Windows Movie Maker software which will let you
create a WMV format movie which should be pretty small. Sounds like you
have an uncompressed file there. A 6 min WMV at such a small size should
come in a just a few megs.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/default.mspx

Free: Microsoft Windows Media Encoder
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/encoder/default.aspx
And likely the largest base of potential viewers have Windows
Media Player already installed.

Cheap: Apple Quicktime
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/win.html
Not nearly the installed base as people who can play WMV.

Avoid at all costs: Real Networks, Real Player "Real One", etc.
Worst case of junkware/adware available at this time.
I won't even bother trying to watch something encoded with
Real. Not worth the enormous hassle.

Windows media format or Quicktime at 160x120 10fps. Tiny files, tiny video.

Yaaaaay, another satisfied customer, (Not that I'm doing any rah-rah for
Windows Movie Maker, it just seemed the quickest and easiest to get
beginners tool.)

I totally agree with all of these sentiments. Real is true malware/spyware.
I had to recode a lot of web site to change the formats away from this
disgusting companies products.
