[citation][nom]zoemayne[/nom]IPEX is probably a scapegoat. Newegg prob has too much money(or too good of deals?) put into D&H to terminate their relationship.[/citation]

I don't normally partake in thumbing someone down, but why is it that every successful business (Microsoft included) is automatically guilty when they are involved in a mistake. Everything is not a conspiracy...

[citation][nom]liquid0h[/nom]Ah crap, figures I'd get this news literally weeks after I just installed a 920 from Newegg...[/citation]

The counterfeit chips are completely non-functional. The box and label are surprisingly well done, but the moment you actually open the package it's immediately obvious you have a fake.

[citation][nom]Gandalf[/nom]I wonder how many customers realized that didn't have the real INTEL processor?[/citation]

None. The counterfeit parts aren't even working chips. They did a good job on the box, but everything inside is obviously fake parts.

[citation][nom]kewlx[/nom]How dare you even say that about Newegg. That is the best computer and other appliance website I have ever found I built my entire rig from there and got top quality products ( even stressed tested everything I got). Shut your mouth before you speak nimwit. Give me some proof before you even say such blasphemy >[/citation]
Newegg is junk...
I will never order from them again because they have screwed me 3 times now. I now gladly pay the huge markup for my local shop. If I have a problem with my local shop, I can just go deal with it in person...
[citation][nom]Newegg[/nom]We have always taken pride in providing an exceptional experience for each customer,[/citation]
Yeah, what about your Canadian customers? Or did you just create a Newegg.ca to attempt to stop us form complaining?

This is from Kyle on HardLibel's forum: "We got something wrong, we have corrected it, apologized, and will be moving on. If I had it all to do over again, I would do it the same. Our goal is to get you guys reliable information through our sources. I am still unsure as to why our information was incorrect on the disty. Our main focus in this was to get Newegg to tell its customers the truth. Do you think that would have happened without our involvement? Dunno, but I am leaning heavily one way in that discussion."

What unbelievable bullshit. Seriously, just admit you screwed up and got the facts wrong and apologize to D&H, whose name you dragged through the mud and stubbornly refused to admit you were wrong. Don't try to spin this in your favor and present some self-important BS about how you helped get the truth out. All HardLibel did was engage in the same kind of bad Internet journalism we see all too much these days. Go ahead, ask Kyle if he ever confirmed what his "source" said about D&H. Ask him if he ever actually called D&H for a comment. You'll be waiting for a straight answer for a long time...

I don't think I've ever looked at H as a realistic Journalist site, and I imagine most people feel the same way. The entire site seems incredibly biased a majority of the time, and 95% of their postings are just direct links to other legitimate news sites.
The only reason I ever visit the site is because it's a fairly decent compilation of all of the news articles for the day.

i dont know who runs the inventory department there at new egg or B&H but i would think they would log sku #'s for those .they are not exactly cheap and allows for better tracking of inventory. where i work they inspect shipments before they are accepted. if i saw some thing that bogus we would reject the shipment entirely or at the very least reject the phony cpu's and contact the supplier. sounds like some one's playing the blame game to me.

well in that case B&H should be Fine its been around sense the 90's as far as i can remember they sell a lot of mac and pc hardware but specialize in cameras and video recorders. my dad orders a lot of stuff from them and has never had any issues with them. Although i still say better inventory tracking and or quality control would of prevented this.

and cudo's to new egg you guy's are doing the right thing..

I've got to say I am less and less impressed with newegg. If you have Micro Center in your area you should check them out- usually cheaper, you don't pay for shipping, and they don't get all funny about RMA's.

I agree about the microcenter and have to add fry's hardware also, but don't bash newegg like that, it's hard to find a better online retailer they are the best there is, i haven't found one.

[citation][nom]ktasley[/nom]looks like D&H wasn't full of shit and prolly had a pretty good reason to be angry[/citation]Provided HardOCP provided a good faith effort to provide accurate information, they probably won't be sued, or if they are, they probably won't have to pay anything.

[citation][nom]koloth22[/nom]this is just another reason why im an amd guy. you never hear of this happening to them[/citation]

This could have happened with AMD (and I run AMD on my system. Haven't used Intel since my P133 days!)

Kudos for Newegg???? Are you serious? The story was the way ive been reading all over the net is that these processors came in boxes with misspellings and various other red flags that these processors were not legit. Seems to me that while Newegg most likely didnt ship these out knowingly that doesnt excuse them. They are an electronics retail company that should know their product betetr than this.

I admire newegg for stepping up to the plate. I've been a customer of theirs for a long time and will continue to shop there. Yes I've had to RMA some items and pay for shipping, but never once have I not been fully satisfied with my purchase experience.

I can't wait to find out who was behind this. We've had some pretty elaborate crimes lately: gunmen who robbed the German poker tournament on live tv, intel i7-920 chip theft, ....

I wonder what's next /popcorn

Not knowing the specific details of everything (such as how inventory was handled by Newegg), I can't say for sure that they did everything right. But you can't expect them to read every single word on every single box. You look at a few and assume that the rest of the shipment is the same.

I support newegg, and i still don't like D & H for not looking into the situation and investigating before making snotty remarks like they did, even though they were not at fault. JMO

Yes I definitely blame the best online computer parts retailer for not noticing "and" was misspelled on a few boxes on a pallet coming off a truck. I mean common how hard would it be to hire 20 guys or so to check every box on every pallet that comes off the dozen of truck loads that must come in every day.

[citation][nom]Ciuy[/nom])))))))))))) i love this kind of shity news ))))[/citation]

The word you're looking for is schadenfreude--it's a German loanword that means, to take joy in the misfortune of others.

You do realize that you quoted Kyle saying that they know they got the story wrong and have apologized, then went on to berate them for dragging D&H's name "through the mud" and not apologizing, right?

I just have to say in defense of Newegg, in relation to it being said they should have noticed the misspellings:

Expecting Newegg's warehouses to notice that on a box (when in practicality probably the workers are taught to scan a barcode to inventory the item as "in stock") is not really feasible.

If you consider that NewEgg received 2,000 processors in that shipment, and probably received 1,000s of other items that day which had to be inventoried...there is a limited amount of QC that can be done on their end.

That should come from the guys who boxed it.

Now considering the one guy who got one and showed a video on YouTube of the box having been "opened" when he received it, I would blame that on NewEgg's warehouse...simply because a new CPU is ALWAYS sealed.

So, I have to wonder where it really came from. I just know my CPU (555BE) shipped from their NJ location.

Can anyone confirm their recently received i7 came out of CA?

Neither of the three scenerios are valid excuses for newegg to screw thier customers. The guy in the video bought a fake cpu from newegg.com, not b&h or some other company. Neither the gross negligence, under staffing, or insufficient training excuses presented would make me a happy customer if I had been screwed like the guy in the video.

Regardless of whether or not newegg got screwed by some supplier, newegg still screwed it's customers. I'm not sure I understand why everyone is high fiving them for this.

Granted newegg is taking care of it now that it's big news, but that doesn't mean they did a great thing; they just did what they should do after screwing people.

I'll put it this way. What if IPEX bought the counterfeit processors in a batch of 4000 from some other company called JoeCO. Would ipex then be absolved of blame and get newegg's business back? Of course not.

How exactly did they] screw people? They received counterfeits but were unaware, they sold counterfeits until they were aware, they're replacing the ones that they did sell now that they are aware. How could you expect them to do anything more? And people are happy with Newegg because oftentimes companies don't do what they should.
