it shoulda said on it "open box" on the sale page, unless it's something u rma'd to them so ur at begging point and beggars can't be choosy
i'm surprised they didn't play nice nice and send u a z97 instead of the z87(upgraded model)
note - before rma'ing anything back to the store..make sure u have few spare pwr supplies and spare parts laying around to test to make sure it's that part that is faulty..other wise u may get a msg from the company u rma'd to saying ur a moron(hasn't happened to me yet, thank god)

Just an update on my previous post (if anyone still cares). I got a replacement in the mail about 2 weeks after i started the RMA and the board looked like it was kicked across the warehouse (bent pins, box in terrible shape, etc.) I filmed it and took pictures, called tech support and had set up what i thought was next day cross ship... but the guy on the phone had lied to me. Luckily I called back the next day after not getting any confirmation emails and worked with another rep. She set up a cross ship and luckily the 3rd board worked normal.

But it doesnt stop there. I had gotten an email back from the repair center saying my returned board didn't have everything with it so they were going to deny my refund and send it back. (the board came with a free headset that i had to send back too which I did, and because the rep entered the wrong product number the warehouse was refusing it). after getting on the phone and listing part numbers, reading back THEIR OWN PROMOTION TO THEM, and threatening a fraud claim through Capital One they finally processed the return they way they should have to begin with.

2 months after everything was settled I get another email saying they are sending the defective board back to me..... so I had to call and explain to them why they were not going to send it to me.

Long story short guys use Amazon. I have never had this kind of experience ordering parts before, and I don't intend to repeat it. For small stuff I'm sure newegg is fine, but for high end system parts I will never order from them again unless some serious changes are made. I was out of freelance work for over a month dealing with all their nonsense, and unfortunately I don't get to bill them for the missing work.

Hope this helps!

I've just today been at the looking on the Newegg site with a view to possibly purchasing a new mobo from them. I'm glad I found this thread and its horror stories before I got the bank card out. Sorry to hear about your bad experiences with Newegg but thanks for stopping me from joining you.

I've always had positive experiences with Newegg. I've probably spent around $5000 there in the last six months. Sorry for all who have had problems, but I will continue to do business there.

Bummer! I have never had 1 issue with NewEgg, I love going to their Warehouse in Edison.. I actually have several times to pickup things since it's only about 5-10 minutes down Route 1&9. Hopefully they resolve these issues with you!

BadAsAl, Thanks for your words of encouragement & a reminder of resources previously used and forgotten!

I contacted the BBB of that area, and also posted the Newegg Customer Service email address in the 'cc:' box, both places has sent me emails! BBB guided me to the proper site to file the complaint, to which Newegg also got a copy. Newegg sent an automated response, which I don't feel will go much good unless BBB rules in favor to me.

Whether or not I receive a replacement MB or store credit, I'm out to shame Newegg as much as possible. There's also a place to write a review, though will allow this process to take place first. If I lose, Newegg will get an ugly review, though civilly. Firing back with profanities does no good & will cause the review to be deleted, with the possibility of not being allowed to post again.

Yet my word still stands, I'll never purchase another MB from Newegg, even if I have to pay more on Amazon or elsewhere. Newegg isn't the only distributor of MB's in the US, and they need to know it. And will never link another product to their site for anyone, though if they want to Google for a better price, that's OK by me. I'm just not going to continue to be an uncompensated salesperson for Newegg any longer, after lposting links which led to 750 to 100 sales. I know that the sales were true because many would post the component in their Speccy specs, or upload a snapshot.

Again, thanks for reminding me of this powerful resource, it so happened about 3-4 years back, my wife & I had to file a claim against a local business & won. her dress was damaged at the cleaners (shrunk due to improper cleaning). They refused to do anything, after the BBB complaint, they ordered her one exactly like it, plus gave us a certificate for $25 of cleanings.

So BBB must wield some power.

We cannot accept the status quo & stand up for our rights, we all either stand for something, or fall for anything. I prefer to be a stander, even if I lose. And even that doesn't mean the end, as a participant on several tech forums (an Advisor on one), my links to other sites which leads to sales there are still small victories with each & every one.;-)

I'll be a thorn in Newegg's side until my toes are sticking up!
