I just built a new PC today, and every time I turn it on, it completely freezes after windows finishes loading. No error messages or changes in the screen, just freezes. This happens every single time, I don't even have enough time to run chkdsk or anything. One thing to note is I can boot into bios just fine and fiddle around without it freezing.
I bought all my parts new, however I'm pretty sure the CPU I bought was used because there was what looked like thermal paste residue on it.
The PC consists of:
Open air case
1 x 4 gb rip jaws DDR4 2400 RAM
Ryzen 7 1700 CPU
MSI gtx 1080 duke
ASRock Fatal1ty X370 GAMING X AM4 AMD Promontory X370 motherboard
Crucial m4 128gb sata 6gb/s SSD
1000 Watt EVGA G3 PSU
So far I've tried swapping out the RAM with a different stick in various places. I made sure everything was plugged in properly. I've restarted numerous times. I don't have a disk drive, so I downloaded windows from a USB. Could it be freezing because windows may be corrupt?
