nexus 7 (2013) not connecting to PC (windows 8.1)

My PC is not connecting to my Nexus 7 tablet.
I can see it under Device Manager -other devices . When I try to install the driver, i get the following message
Windows found software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it
MTP USB device
The system can not find the file specified

Any solutions/suggestions?
