NFS:Pro Street-Choppy gameplay

Hi everyone.

I get choppy gameplay in NFS😛ro Street @ 1280x1024 using low/medium settings with no anti-aliasing and Vsync turned off. My current driver is the 169.xx beta that I downloaded to play Crysis.I am wondering if this might be the cause.
 
I have P4 2.4 Ghz with 1GB DDR400 RAM and 7600GS AGP.Same to you, I have choppy gameplay even though I set all the graphic option set to low at 640x480 resolution.The game suffer a lot of lag. 🙁 Also, I have update the graphic driver to the latest 163.75.I have not yet to try the beta version.

Not sure if it the graphic driver issue.By the way what is your system spec? :)
 
I've also tried it with the latest non-beta Nvidia drivers.Even tried un-installing and re-installing it without installing punkbuster(thought that might have something to do with the performance).

Well that made no improvement whatsoever. Also turned all the settings down with the resolution at 1024x768.

That made a small improvement but I still got some choppy bits on certain parts of the tracks. Have no idea what's going on.

Tried Carbon as well again just to compare and had none of the problems with all the settings turned up.

Starting to regret that I bought it. :fou:

I just played the full game and all i can say is, OMG! This is the worst piece of crap i've played in a long time! 🙁
So dissapointed, i'm finding myself more and more dissapointed with most racing games coming out lately.

Tried playing it for a good few hours to try and get a feel for it but nothing, its just horrible, nasty and now... it's just destined to be un-installed!!

Performance was good though compared to what you guys saying you have been getting. I was running with all options on high, 4xAA, AF and resolution of 1680x1050. I'd say 50% of the time it ran about 60fps other than that didnt really drop below 30fps at worst. I can run it at 1920x1200 but the framerate drops to about 20 at the lowest point so gets a litte jerky.

I'm also running Vista 64bit, i wonder if it likes Vista? lol

My specs are below and oh i'm running 169.09 beta drivers.

Vista Business x64
AMD X2 4800+ @2.63ghz
Asus A8n32-SLI
2 x 1gb Cosair 3500LL Pro @219mhz
XFX 8800GTX XXX


cfvh600, your fps should be much higher than that, my system is not that much faster than yours, if at all as your cpu is clocked higher than mine :)

p.s. Just installed NFS: Most Wanted again and ooh I'm loving those cop chases 😀 😀 😀
 
im playin the game on a x2 4000 + 8600gt. 1280x1024 all settings are high but no v-sync and only "bilinear" filtering mode ( i still cant see lot of difference using trilinear or aniso on this resolution so i skipped it ) no lag here, but the game is crap lol
 
okay i've installed it on another pc i've built for my gf. It's a E6300 with 2gb ram and a radeon x1900gt running xp sp2. No choppy gameplay there and i noticed it used almost 100% of the cpu during gameplay. So it must be multi core optimised. Probably why i get crap performance.
 



I had a 4200+ and I had the same problem. However, last week I upgraded to a 6000+ and the game ran much faster. IMO it must therefore be a cpu utilisation problem. For some reason the game appears to be very cpu-intensive. Can't think of why cause it's not much of a game to be honest.

On a sidenote, I'd like to recommend upgrading to a 6000+ to all you guys who have an 8800 and a 4000-4600+ cpu. You've got no idea how much the graphic card is being bottlenecked by the cpu. I couldn't believe it either until I saw it with my own eyes. World in conflict was a slideshow compared to now. Now i'm averaging 25-30 fps during the benchmark with 57+ max and 11 minimum (during the nuke), detail set to full, dx10, 4xAA, 0xAF.
 


Thanks for the response. Yes I see it runs much better on a dual core CPU than on a single core. I guess this is a sign that I have waiting long enough now and it is time to do the upgrade. Sigh...
 
Yeah, you're right cfvh600.The game wants a dual or multiple core cpu.I have tried overclocked my P4 from 2.4 to 3.06 Ghz and I don't see any difference.Also, I went to cybercafe to try the game and it run smooth.I don't know what the spec that cybercafe use.
I guess when buying the 7600GS AGP I can play almost the latest game at least medium setting at 1078x768. 🙁

I was wrong.But I don't regret. :)

Game in these day are more demanding.
 
I don't want to act like the community troll, but I have never understood people's obsession with driving shows, or games.

I mean really, I hate nascar with a passion.
 
Runs fine on P4 HT.I think maybe it is the minimum requirement(P4 HT).I wonder if they released a patch.I don't know what kind of engine they're using. 🙁
 
Those of you that use older processors (Pentium with HT or Pentium D) should use the Taskmanager to assign the game to a single cpu core (or virtual CPU core if you have HT).
 


If I hadn't played as much Gran Turismo as I have, I would be dead.

On that note, why can't we get a car simulator like GT or Forza on the PC?
