Nic card not being displayed in device manager

i cant find my onboard nic card under my device manager after the computer was affected by a power surge during a thunder storm. does this mean that the nic has been damaged by the power surge or could there be another reasons why it's no longer displayed under device manager?

You could try disabling it in the BIOS, save and exit, then re-enable it and save and exit again. That might be enough to allow it to be detected again. If not, it was likely fried by the surge.

thanks for the advice but it didnt work so it looks like i need a new nic card.
