Hello everyone, I wonder if someone can attend to my concern. I installed yesterday my new psu, it's a brand new EVGA 500B, and the mobo old Asus G41
On straight BIOS hardware monitoring I'm getting this 0.000v on the 5v.
The motherboard has only a 4pin cpu power connector and the psu comes with 1x 8pin (4+4), so I just connected just half of it to the board. Somehow everything works normally, system can POST, played demanding games, downloaded stuffs, and kept like that for around 2hrs~ without issues.
Questions, are there any risks? is the EPS cable be the reason? Is it has to do with the 24pin atx otherwise?
I unplugged and plugged every power cord again and again, still no 5v current reading. And last, is the psu maintaining proper voltages based on the 3.3v and 12v readings?
Gratefully I'd like some help because I fear I could be dealing with a faulty psu I bought from amazon usa cause I live in Colombia, even there seems to be no signal of malfunctioning, weakness or instability. Thanks a lot.
