- Hi
Sorry for the slightly ambiguous title. About 3 hours since the time of this post I powered up my PC after around 2 1/2 weeks of no use. On startup, the fans and LEDs came on for about 3 seconds, shut off for 5, came on for 3, etc...
I decided to do some testing, I determined there was an issue with the CPU by using my modular PSU and disconnecting everything individually. After unplugging my CPU the computer's fans/LEDs came on without turning off, but, as expected, there was no display.
I disassembled my PC, took off the CPU cooler and cleaned up the CPU, there was no thermal paste strewn around, the bottom of it was clean and reflective like normal, and the motherboard pins were perfectly straight. I cleaned off the old paste and reapplied new, I actually got Arctic SIlver a while ago but never put it on. I slipped the CPU back on, mounted the cooler, and booted up the PC, this time the fans and LEDs came on, and stayed on, but there was still no display.
I decided to poke around on Google and came across a post on the Steam Community that was close really close to my issue. It said that the OP's Mobo stopped working, that he bought a new one, and that fixed all of his issues.
I'm consider putting down the money for a new one, I'd rather not, as it's expensive, but worth it if it means that my PC works.
Any ideas? Should I just go ahead and purchase one?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
