So I just built a new computer (my first one) and when I finished placing the components and turned it on, power button lit up and the fans started to spin. However, there was no display. No startup logo, nothing. I tried "shorting" the CMOS but that didn't work either. what I did notice was that the graphics card's fan was "twitching" and didn't fully rotate and instead turned then immediately turned off. Then repeated this cycle. So I tried plugging in the HDMI cord into the motherboard instead of the graphics card. still no display. How can I fix this?

Remove the videocard you installed and see if the onboard video works.

Some GPUS can or will disable the onboard video.

Thats why it didnt work, when you plugged the monitor into the onboard while the card was still installed

Did you connect the ATX12v cpu fan and 24 pin?

The ATX12v is the thing that powers the CPU right? The pin that has 8 holes? Mine had 4, but I searched around and said that an 8 pin connecter from the PSU would work with the 4 pin on the mitherboard. The 24 pin is the thing that actually powers the motherboard right? If so, yes I did plug it in. I'll be sure to try taking the GPU out tomorrow. Thanks.

About the GPU, I tried plugging the video adapter into the GPU itself and it didnt work. Then I plugged it into the onboard one and it didnt work. Are you saying I should take out my GPU and plug the adapter into the onboard? If it works, what will I do with my GPU then?

I eventually removed the GPU, HDD, SDD, and the RAM, and still nothing. The motherboard didnt beep like it was supposed to so Im suspecting that the motherboard is dead. This is a brand new motherboard, and whats worse is that when I plugged in the USB 3.0 cables from the case, and tried to remove them, the whole header came off from the motherboard and now I dont know how to remove the header from the cable. So now I cant return it. Any help?
