No display on initial bootup

I bought all the components for a new computer and followed the instructions for how to put it together. When I turn on the PSU an orange light appears on the motherboard, and when I press the I/O button on the case all the fans and ambient LEDs turn on but I'm not getting anything on the monitor. The monitor will display its startup page and then proceed to display "no signal". I have called customer support from the motherboards manufacturer and they said to remove all but on stick of RAM and shift which PCI slot the graphics card is on. I tried this and I did not help. What should be my next step in troubleshooting as I have not been able to find anything in the motherboard's or GPU's manuals.

what slots do you have the ram in? try taking out one of the ram (even though you did this) and put the single one you have in, in slot 1 or 3.
