So about a month ago, my hard drive broke and i turned in it for warranty, after i got the computer back, i wanted to install a new graphics card, but i plugged in PC; no internet.
It was pretty strange because my computer had internet normally before the warranty, but i though it was just that the drivers were not installed since they replaced the hard drive(sorry if this is not correct, i am very new to computer), so i ran the windows troubleshooter, they said i have not installed a driver for network adapter, just as i though, so i though. -oh well i can just put in the new graphics card and install the driver for that too(i have no dvd drive and i went from amd to nvidia graphics card), so i did that.I got all the latest drivers from a laptop, and transferred it over via an usb.All the other drivers were installed exept the nvidia, when it came to network adapter, the installation went well, until it came to the end when i got the message "The realtek network controller was not found. if deep sleep mode is enabled Please plug the cable", so i went to the laptop and instantly google what it was and how to disable it, all the other sites, including this one, said that i should pull out ram, unplug power, reset bios etc. and there is one where it said that i should go to device manager and find the network adapter in the list, but i dont have that tab in my device manager, and ALL the pages for them, they always had that tab, exept me.
so i called the place where took care of the warranty, i told them the story, and they told me exact all the options there was on the internet, and when i said about not finding network adapters in my device manager, they instantly said that it was my fault because i damaged the motherboard network thing when i installed my new graphics card, and can not be turned in for warranty IF i had damaged the mobo, so they sent me some pictures of where i could have damaged, but i didnt have any of the thing, and i was very careful when i installed the graphics card, and i also checked that the graphics card never touch any of the part on the motherboard during the installation. But what forgot to tell them that the problem occurred before i putted in the new graphics card, and the company warranty policy is that if there is a physical damage, i can not turn it in. P.S forgot to mention that i also had this band thing around my wrist so that i dont have static electricity
So what do I do? did i damage the motherboard? do i have to buy a new one? is there a way to fix this myself? because the company takes very much money for fixing computer and i dont know if this a small or big problem, either way the fix costs 100! So if i know the problem atleast i could know if i can buy a new motherboard.
My specs are
graphics card Gtx 950
processor AMD a6-6420K
motheboard Asus a58m-K
Thanks! Jon
