Well i downloaded some setup files that where fully legal. then i used ashampoo burning suite 6 to make the iso image. i know it work cuz i used that iso image to install it on a ther pc i had. the only other option i have is prob to use virtualbox and see if that works. i will try now. if there is any ther fix please let me know, thanks!

Strange. Setting up VMWare Workstation should be simple - even simpler than VirtualBox. Even stranger as I wasn't aware that there were any legal downloads of Vista available.

i changed the first boot option to the cd/dvd drive because that is where the iso is located. the i made the hdd the second. as i said in he post to the other guy i will try to use usb now...

They were available from Digital River several years ago. However, the links have been dead for quite some time now and there are no legal downloads available today.

yes there is a legal way to dwnload vista. the first 2 files. bot.wim and install.wim are from digital river and can be found here. heres the 64 bit files.

http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/msvista/pub/msshus/vista64/install.wim

http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/msvista/pub/msshus/vista64/boot.wim

the last one is the microsoft installer and it is not from digita river. however it is completely safe. i have tried it my self.
heres the link.

https://drcdn.blob.core.windows.net/msoffice/pub/X14-63453/X14-63453.exe

there are 32 bit ones but im jjst inking these 3 to show u that they are legal. if u want me to link the 32 bit ones then just tell me

I had the same error when I didn't check the Connect at power on option in VM settings.
