Hey guys, we build a just built a pc and everything seems to go okay, but when we connect it up to the monitor, no output appears and a 'check signal cable' error appears. Everything else seems fine, the green light on the mobo is on, all the fans are spinning including the graphics card fans. [strike]2 short beeps are heard when we switch the pc on[/strike], so is it possible that we shorted something out?
We have tried different monitor cables and monitors, so its definitely a pc error.
We are using:

Asus m5a97 r.20
Fx-6300
2x4gb corsair vengeance ram
r9 270x
Zalman z9 plus case

Any ideas? Thanks.

Ok with any or most boards the bios beep codes indicate a problem.

Anything more than a single short beep indicates so error with a device plugged into the board.

You need to know what the make of the bios is.
Award flash bios is most common.
Phoenix bios.
ect.

The manual that came with the board can sometimes have a page that will relate to the error of the beep message.
Or a list of errors can be found by going to the website of the board maker with its model number.

Or a search of the bios chip and brand used with the board.
