Windows 8 was acting up so I formatted it and reinstalled it. The reason it was acting up was because something happened to my GPU so now I'm stuck with the on-board HDMI output.
The thing is: I already installed the drivers from the cd that comes with the motherboard and updated everything windows asked me to update ( exept upgrading to 8.1) but I still get no sound. When I pull up the audio options, there's the Realtek Digital Output (before I intalled the drivers it had something saying s/pdif) enabled and set as default, speakers that aren't connected and Digital audio(HDMI) that also isn't connected.
I looked around the internet and everyone's problem was enabling the digital output but this isn't doing the job for me and now I'm completely lost

Also I think it's relevant to say that in my live usb version of linux there was also no sound coming from the HDMI. My MoBo is a Gigabyte b85m-d3h

If using motherboard HDMI > monitor for sound then that will be using Inte'ls graphics which needs a driver as already pointed out to enable audio, just like you would with a graphics card, Windows alone doesn't install audio for Intel Hd graphics.

If its 3.5mm audio or Optical, that will be Realtek.

They do move.

But the HDMI says it is not connected at all and this way you will not be able to set it as the default. Do you get a picture on the TV? Is it sure a hdmi port that takes audio input on the TV side?

I get a picture on my TV just no sound. The port has sound because before I had to reinstall windows it's the one I used.

I found this video

He had the same problem as me, but my BIOS doesn't have that tweaker. How do I change the onboard vga output connect?

I guess you didn't understand what i said, oh well least you got it now.
