Will a non ata/100 drive slaved to an ata/100 drive impeded the performance of the ata/100 drive? Will it work at all?
I have a ton of zipfiles, drivers etc... on a 2.5gig HD
(no cd burner & no zip drive)
When I do a clean format on my ata/100 HD when I fire up the new rig I want to be able to access all these files I've been hoarding.
CD burner added to my wish list LOL

Having hard drives installed on the same ribbon cable will effect the performance either way. The transfer rate really shouldn't matter. They are both going to run at the speed they are and the speed the motherboard supports.

You will be limited on throughput bandwidth if they're on the same IDE channel.
