Non-Secure Erase

i have an ssd with data. i want to erase that and re-format. that original data is not personal so i don't need to make sure it can't ever be accessed.

so do i simply use format again in wiodows 7?

Do a Quick Format, not a Full Format.

i thought i saw where you have to erase in order to somehow renew the SSD back to factory state if you want best performance. no?

That's correct. Secure Erase will restore the drive to fresh-out-of-the-box condition.
