Noob question about partitioning

Hello, I have recently built a second computer and this time it is a gaming rig with one 250GB SSD and one 1TB WD HDD, I have linux mint installed on the SSD and I have let Linux do the partitioning for it. I plan to use the HDD for my other files, mainly Blender models/animations/STLs, documents, games and their saves and the like. Do I need to partition the HDD? The information I have been finding online only seems to discuss creating a separate partition for the OS, but I have a whole separate drive for that. Excuse my ignorance on the subject, I've never had need to learn about partitioning.

If so, how many partitions would I need? I truly know nothing about partitioning other than what I have been reading online tonight,
