In newer titles like GTA V/Witcher 3/Dragon Age Inquisition im getting 10-20FPS lower than others using the same setup as mine, Benched and Stressed with expected results ... what am i doing wrong here? If its just my Gear what do you guys recommend i buy?

Hmm, actually this is not true:
"The memory type for all current gaming grade video cards is GDDR5, which mostly runs at a real clock frequency of around 1000MHz to around 1400MHz. GDDR5 uses what is called "quad pumped" technology, which within one clock cycle can do four data transfers. Thus the effective memory clock, or data rate, is 1000MHzx4 to 1400MHzx4. This makes comparisons easier."

1700 is what speed it should be running at. (I wish they wouldn't complicate things like this -_-)

1750 to be exact...

Is that different for each manufacturers card btw? My MSI 970 runs at 3750mhz memory speed (overclocked). However my friends STRIX 970 show the value as close to 8K (cant remember his exact number).

But I didn't know it would ever show up as 1/4th, I have never experienced it myself at least.

EDIT:So does it work like CPU's using multipliers? e.g 1750x4=7K, 3750x2=7.5k.

Check if vertical sync (VSync) or anti aliasing (AA) is on. If they are, turn them off. This is one of the most common situations that you should always go over.

i dont know mate, thats why i am asking

on and off doesnt change my frames 🙁

That makes zero sense.
AA and VSync along with Anisotropic Filtering are the most FPS changing settings.

Erm... No. A 980 and an i5 cannot pull together GTA V at ultra with AA and VSync on at 60fps.

And why is that? I haven't played GTA V myself so I can't vouch for that games performance.

But with my 970 (overclocked) I get 60fps in the witcher 3 with pretty much identical settings as OP (some even higher), yes with AA and Vsync on.

The Witcher 3 has pretty poor AA imo. GTA's AA and VSync are harder to pull of than The Witcher 3's.

That might be true, but it still doesn't change the fact that OP should get 60FPS in The Witcher 3 with his current settings when a 970's does. He also got better firestrike graphics scores than me so there doesn't seem to be any issues there.

In any case, have you ever come across a GPU showing 1/4th the total memory clock speed?

False the reference speeds for the gtx 970 is 7 ghz 1750 *4 & all non reference MSI cards that I know of use reference memory speeds...

7 GHZ is the effective memory speed...

1750 mhz quad pumped

I'm talking about overclock values here. http://puu.sh/i3KhB/742ba877a3.jpg
In any case if what you say is true then his memory seems to be just fine and there must be some other issue.

This guys OC & gpu voltage is ridiculous... 1556? I couldn't get that with my 980 and I have friends with 980's around 1500 is the max however around 1450 is the average... Maybe if you buy the new Asus gold card and get a high asic the 1556 is possible however i heard most classifieds don't hit 1556...

My friend had 2x 970 gold cards that couldn't get there...
I have other friends that have eVGA and Asus strix 970's that can't get to 1562. The op should set his gpu to stock and see what happens

Those are my values btw. I've never had any issues really. Tried going higher on the clock to about 1580~but there I started having crashes.

Memory I can't push higher than ~3840 before having problems as well.

At the current clock & memory I've been able to play all my current games + no problems in the witcher 3 so far, except the now fixed UI crash.

There are quite a few OC'ers that have been able to push the 970 even further than me, mainly the Gigabyte G1 gaming one, seen quite a few people on 1600clock, 4000memory on overclock.net

What is your ASIC Score? You can get that by righ clicking on GPU Z and selecting read asic score...
