Hello all.

OK I got my son a GUA1600BST last year at best buy. Everything was fine until about 1 week ago. I was pretty sure the computer had a 500 watt PSU in it. The specs are as follows:

Cyberpower GUA1600BST
MOBO AM3+ Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
Win 10
FX 6300
Radeon RX 560 2 gb
16 ram 1600
two 1 TB HDDs

We got him an Oculus VR this christmas and right away noticed lag. So I went to best buy and bought a Radeon RX 580 GTS Black Edition 8gb. I installed it and everything seemed fine. No more lag and it was running smoothly. So I figured the PSU had enough juice in it. Well a week later the computer turned off and did not turn back on. I read a bunch of reviews on the GPU on the best buy website. Many of them had the same issue.....the computer just turning off and not turning back on. Turned out to be the GPU died. And I also found out from cyberpower that the PSU is a 400 watt. Not enough juice. So I bought a 650 watt corsair PSU. So I went back to best buy and exchanged it for an MSI GTX 1060 6 gb. I installed the card and the PSU and tried to turn on the PC and NOTHING. Would not turn on at all. So I figured it was the MOBO that burned out because of the GPU. So I tested the corsair PSU on another computer and the PSU works fine. I also tested the 1060 and works fine. I reinstalled everything back into the computer hoping I just missed something. NOTHING. The mouse, keyboard and monitor are on but NO PC powering up. The one thing I did notice was I accidently pulled out the HDD LED front panel plug. I think I put it back in the wrong way becasue the HDD light stays on even though the PC is not booting up at all.

Sorry for the long explanation. BUT what could it be.

ATX is plugged in
CPU 6 pin (black one similar to the PCI E plug) is plugged into MOBO
the HDDs are plugged in via sata cable and PSU plugs
the F panel cords are plugged into the PSU power
CPU is plugged into the MOBO
GPU is plugged in via PCI e PSU plug 6 pin
Ram is in properly
all 5 fans are plugged into MOBO and fan adapters

I am lost. even though the f panel HDDLED plug might be in wrong...that woould not prevent the pc from starting correct?

Is the MOBO really dead? How can I make sure?

any advice would be great. Thank you.

Solution
If there is no lights or sounds from the motherboard and the fans are off, not spinning or lighting up, I would be inclined to agree yes it could be the motherboard.
Especially, because pre-built pcs aren't exactly a swap in swap out systems and little things will bug them alot, yes including your psu.
It is VERY possible the MOBO died, especially if the PSU or GPU went out, it couldve sent voltage and sent it out the door, or even just damaged the slot. I was in the EXACT same scenario you were, having card go out, swapping psu's, i even bought mine from cyberpowerpc aswell! And eventually after multiple RMA's with cyber power it was determined to be the mobo going out after the card went out.

Edit: Also try removing the CMOS battery and restarting the computer and then plugging the CMOS battery back in

thx hampton. Well the old evga psu that came with the cyberpower pc is still working. the only thing that died was the gpu. did not know that the rx580 gts BE needs a recommended 250 watts....wow. damn it. i am also leaning towards the MOBO being dead. Is there a way to test the MOBO to see if it is really dead? maybe just connect he 24 and 8 pin and nothing else? thx

You could try it, and see Hasley's comment. If there are no lights comming on on the mobo or any audible beeps, it is possibly fried.
