I have 3x ASUS PG278Q ROG Monitors running on a ASUS 980Ti Graphics card. However when I try to run all three at once the graphics driver on the machine keeps crashing and recovering - or just crashing. I can run two monitors fine but not three.

Its not just the version of the driver either. I've tried running 364.72 and the one before but I have the same issue with both.

I want the monitors to run in 2560x1440. They are all capable up to 144Mhz

Any suggestions?

Yeah tried that. I think it must be the card. It must not have enough grunt to handle 3x 2k Screens. Played with it again and after a while it got the three screens going - but it set one of the screens to 23 Mhz.

I'm now wondering if I need to run SLI to get all the screens performing at their peak - or maybe look at one of the new GTX 1080 cards

You are running them at 2560x1440, which connections on the card are using? Even if the card didn't have enough power to run the cards, it should just give you bad fps, it shouldn't crash.

Just updated the card I have to a 1080Ti and it still doesn't work. I can get the 3rd monitor running but only if its running at 24Mhz

The card is in the PCIx16 slot.
Have put the old 980Ti back in and have the same issue. Anyone got any ideas?
Cables are all Display Port 1.2

Wow so its been 12 months but I finally resolved the issue.

Turns out I had to faulty display port cables. My spare cable and the one I was using were both faulty. By chance I used a third cable on the monitor and the correct refresh rates were not only available for selection but worked correctly.
